Getting a Job With Fake Diploma

How Easy Is It To Get a Job With A  Fake Diploma?

Surprisingly, it’s quite easy to land an interview using a fake high school diploma or college degree. In fact, you can pretty much fake anything in your application and you’ll still have a chance of getting accepted for an interview. After all, you’re the one who writes the resume/CV and no 3rd party will verify whatever it is you submitted to any employer.

As far as actually getting accepted and staying employed, well, that’s a different story all throughout. If we were talking about the 90s or 80s, you’d probably be able to get away with a fake diploma. However, most companies these days make use of 3rd party background checks to check for any discrepancy in your resume.

The first thing that most background checks verify is the applicant’s education and previous work experience. To do this, these companies contact the university and previous employers to verify any details found in the resume/CV. Of course, if we’re talking about small companies and family-owned businesses, 3rd party background checks are highly unlikely.

What Happens If You’re Caught?

If you’re caught during the application process, of course you’re going to be denied the job. You may face some legal consequences as well, but that’s highly unlikely.

If you are accepted and you get caught, your employer will most likely fire you. Again, there may be some legal consequences as well. That’s not all. The employer, especially if you were accepted to a big company, will most likely call every other company without the market or industry you worked in. You’ll then be blocked from finding a job similar to yours anytime soon, or ever for that matter. Or, to cut it short, you’ll be blacklisted.

Is it worth the risk? Well, that depends. Some people have actually been successful in faking their credentials. Many have even gone to keep their jobs for years. Some are even promoted.

Should You Fake Your Diploma?

This isn’t exactly something that anyone can give you a direct answer to. It’s a moral dilemma, more or less, and it’s something that you’ve got to decide for yourself. But, if you were to look at things logically, faking something in a job application is wrong and it’s somehow pointless to try. This is because if you can prove that you’re capable of doing something without the necessary educational requirements, you’ll eventually find a company willing to hire you, despite your educational background, or rather, lack thereof. Of course, this ignores cases such as lawyers, doctors, pilots and so on.

The downside? It’s going to take you quite a while to land a job without faking anything. Then again, you can say that it’s worth it since you won’t have to lie to the company that hired you. Who knows, the company might even give you a chance to work on your high school diploma or college degree while you’re working for them.

While all of that’s a long shot, what isn’t a long shot is your professional career and reputation taking a huge hit if you get caught faking your resume credentials. Yes, you might get a better job and get one much sooner, but the risk is just too much to the point that faking a diploma just isn’t worth it.
